Clan Mackinnon Tours
Skye Luxury Tours was founded by Stuart Mackinnon who is from the village of Elgol on the Strath peninsula of the Isle of Skye – the home of the Mackinnons. With an ancestry going back through as many generations of the clan Mackinnon as can be found (including a direct ancestry back to Captain John Mackinnon, the Mackinnon clan chief who ferried Bonnie Prince Charlie to safety from Elgol in 1747).
Stuart loves having the opportunity to introduce visiting Mackinnon families from all over the world to places of real historical interest to the Mackinnon clan as they join him for the Skye Mackinnon tour.
The tour will include some of the finest scenery on the island as well as visiting Dunringell, near Strathaird, Castle Moil in Kyeakin, Bonnie Prince Charlie’s cave in Elgol, Kilchrist church ruins, and so much more. You will hear about the clan history whilst visiting the sights where it all happened.
Depending on how long you are able to tour for Mackinnon tours can also be tailored to include other places of Mackinnon interest such as the Isle of Arran or the Culloden Battlefield near Inverness. Guests on Mackinnon tours can choose from our usual complimentary offer of a dram of Talisker or to sample ‘our’ Mackinnon tipple, Drambuie.
